| Eileen Ferguson holds an MA in Fine Art from the University of Ulster. Originally from Scotland, she has exhibited widely in Ireland, Europe and the USA including: The Mullan Gallery, Belfast (2002 & 2003); The Hallward Gallery, Dublin (2002); the Sligo Art Gallery (1999); Gracefield Art Centre, Dumfries, Scotland (1999); The Crawford Arts Centre, St Andrews, Scotland (1997) and the 'Year of Ireland' exhibition, Kennesaw State College, Georgia, USA (1997). In 2004 she was involved with the 'Leabhar Mór' exhibition which toured Ireland and Scotland. Her current body of work is a combination of layering different media to create space, atmosphere and light. She uses pure colour pigment and pearlescent powders. This use of technique reflects her inspiration, which is gleaned from her frequent visits to the Atlantic coastline. Light is reflected and absorbed by contrasting surfaces which echoes her interest and inspiration from the sculpted shoreline, weather and tide. Collections to date include ACC Bank, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Monaghan County Museum, The Tyrone Guthrie Centre and the Office of Public Works. |
